Happy Birthday Selena!

Today I want to give tribute to the talented and beautiful Selena Quintanilla. Not only was she a rising star in the music industry but also a fashion favorite known for her spunky designs on and off the stage. Let’s not forget her talent as a fashion designer as well. Not only is she my WCW but she is an inspiration to me and so many others in the world. Rest in Peace and Happy B-day!

Throwback Thursday: CATARINA Magazine #36 March 2014 “Color Contrast” by Bruna Castanheira. Model: Mariane Calazan

After seeing this editorial on http://devoutfashion.tumblr.com I knew I had to post it on this blog. This photo-shoot is edgy and artistic, which is two things I love about fashion. I love how optical illusions is used has the textile design, which created such magic.

This is one of my favorite photo-shoots I have seen in a really long time.

Red Carpet: The 2014 DVF Awards

Last night, the 2014 DVF Awards happened in NYC and it was very much a star-studded event. Not only did major fashion happen on the red carpet but Alicia Keys was presented with the Inspiration Award and Gloria Steinem was given the Lifetime Leadership Award. Cool!

Check out some of my favorite looks above! Tell me whose your favorite.

Man Crush Monday: Jared Leto

This man has been the apple of my eye since watching re-runs of ‘My So Called Life’. Jared Leto is not only a great actor with starring in great films such as Fight Club, Girl,Interrupted, Chapter 27 & Dallas Buyers Club, but also a great musician with having his band ‘30 seconds to Mars’.

Plus, can we talk about his killer rock n’ roll style. From street chic to red carpet hotness and of course those lovely long locks, Jared Leto always  look great. Talented and charming, Jared Leto is definitely my MCM!

Signature Style: Miley Cyrus

Every pop star has a moment in their career when they switch their style and make a transition that can make or break their career. Britney Spears went from the girl next door to a sexy pop superstar, Rihanna went from Little Miss Sunshine to the Good Girl Gone Bad and of course Madonna the Queen of Pop created a whole career out of switching her style and being a trendsetter.

Now, it’s a new generation of pop stars who are ready to go down that same route and out of all the young starlets, Miley Cyrus is making the biggest waves with her new look. From Disney starlet to spunky diva, Miley Cyrus new style and music gave her the extra boost she needed to make her a mega super star. Her style is a mix of spunky prints, bedazzle embroidery, hip hop flavor and of course her country roots. Not only can you see her in her signature cut-off shorts but she also can be seen rocking high fashion trends. Let’s not forget her awesome 'Bangerz' tour costumes, which gives me Texas meets Las Vegas style. Miley Cyrus new style has gotten her in mega fashion magazines and on all the blogs. She is definitely starting off her new transition with a bang!

Let me know what you think of Miley Cyrus new look!

Cover Girl: Solange, Erykah Badu & Ledisi for Essence

Essence decided to not only have one but three covers for their May beauty issue and I must say they choose the three right people for the covers. Between Solange ever-growing fashion icon status and Erykah Badu recent campaign with Givenchy, they pull the upcoming beauty and style icons to be a apart of this magazine.

I’m loving that Essence magazine not only celebrates black beauty but sends a message that any style can be beautiful. Whether skinny, tall, short or have natural hair, woman can be beautiful in their own skin.

Be sure to check out this E! interview with Solange Knowles about being a style icon and motherhood here.

Women Crush Wednesday: Emma Watson

I may be a tad bit bias about this one since I’m a total Harry Potter nerd, but I have loved her since first glazing my eyes on that iconic franchise. Every since then I have been the biggest Emma Watson fan. Love seeing her evolve into this amazing actress and one of my fashion favorites. Not only is she beautiful but has a sweet and charming personality to match. Gotta love her!

What’s Hot: Nasty Gal Spring 2014 Collection Lookbook

Everyone’s favorite online brand Nasty Gal has just released a lookbook for their Spring 2014 lookbook and I must say I love it! This lookbook is giving me a 80’s punk rock style that I’m obsessed with right now. Its spunky, cool and and something different then what we are currently seeing right now.
