Stellar Inc: Club Kids New Generation

The Club Kids were an eccentric and spunky group of club socialites in New York City in the late 80’s and early 90’s. This special group of young adults were not only know for their parties in the city but the shock value of their fashion. Bright colors, eye-popping designs and one of a kind style, the Club Kids fashion was a breathe of fresh air on the New York club scene. Unfortunately, with the drug scene taking over and a tragic death, the Club Kids reign end in the mid to late 90’s.

Recently, it seems like the Club Kids 90’s fashion scene is coming back to pop culture through the music industry and the fashion industry. From designers like Jeremy Scott to pop artist like Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, the shock value of fashion is coming back stronger then ever! It’s seen on the runway, magazines and even street fashion. Now, the question is if the Club Kids are making a comeback or is pop culture today just using the culture of the Club Kids as a trend? Let me know what you think.

Stellar Inc: Retro Fashion! Mod 60’s

The Swinging 60’s was known for many great things! Motown was the biggest music label of the decade, Beatlemania was at its peak and Andy Warhol was becoming one of the biggest artist with his pop art. Plus, the 60’s was known for being the decade of revolution and making a change!

Another big thing that was happening during that decade was the fashion! Many style icons were born during that decade and many trends started too. Who would of ever thought 50 years later the same trends will still be going down the runway in 2014. Many styles were born during the sixties such as the hippie trend but one sense of style that can still be seen in films, runways and magazines is the mod style!

In the early-to-mid-1960s, the London Modernists known as the Mods were shaping and defining popular fashion for young British men & woman creating a sense of style that really brought a true definition to chic. From colorful swing coats, mini skirts and velvet mini dresses, 60’s fashion was made for the young and stylish! I love the fashion of the 60’s and the simplicity of the trends. I would love to incorporate the retro 60’s trend into my fall/winter wardrobe.

So, what do you think of the Mod 60’s style?

NYFW Favorites: The Blonds SS2015

I have always admire The Blonds for going against the grain and mixing it up in fashion. My admiration just turned into me falling in love after seeing their Spring/Summer 2015 collection. It’s a mixture of glam and gangster, as the models rocked gold chains, big braids, flannels and everything else in between. What I love the most is how they managed to stay true to their style without following what trends may come or go. Love it.

Rihanna for Tush Magazine

Rihanna may have not been on the music scene for awhile but that doesn’t mean she not working! Not only has she been hard at work on the ‘Monster’ tour with Eminem but she also been showing Storm realness for German fashion magazine Tush.

Being the fearless fashion icon she is, Rihanna never back down from transformming her style and recreating herself. Looking fierece in bold silver hair, Rihanna models dramtic looks which was styled by Nadia Rath. I love the artistic value from this photoshoot and love how Rihanna is not afraid to stray away from “pretty” when doing photoshoots. One of my favorites from her.

NYFW Favorites: Saunder S/S 2015

It’s something about New York Fashion Week that makes me so happy. Between the street fashion, stylish celebrities and all the fabulous events, you can get lost in the beautiful mess that is NYFW. But of course the best thing of all is the runway shows showcasing wonderful fashion and trends.

I’ve been looking online and caught my eye on this wonderful s/s 2015 collection from emerging designer Emily Saunders. Not only is it colorful and eye catching, it showcase a mod 60’s style with a new futuristic twist. This collection is definitely one of my favorites from NYFW so far.

Cover Girl: Miley Cyrus for V magazine

Miley Cyrus is known for her spunky style and free-spirited attitude. So, it was no surprise that Miley Cyrus decided to pose nude for V magazine the V Rebel issue. Giving bedroom eyes while laying on a pile of fluffy teddy bears, it gives a cool contrast to her growing up in the spotlight and her bubbly childhood past. Plus, it makes for a really great photo shoot. Let’s not forget that awesome furry Fendi one piece she was seen wearing on the cover. Best of all, this was all shot by fashion icon Karl Largerfeld.

What do you think of this V Rebel cover featuring Miley Cyrus?

Red Carpet: MTV VMA’s 2014 Red Carpet

Yesterday was the MTV VMA’s 2014 and as usual there were many great moments and great surprises. My favorite moments of course was on the red carpert as A-list celebrities came to show off some great trends and fashion. The VMA’s always had a reputation for allowing celebrities to be free with there fashion and to experiment with some if the latest trends, so I was excited to see what I will see down the red carpet.

Usual wild cards of fashion, Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus tone down this year and I loved it. Also, love how Ariana Grande spiced it up from her usual style. Now, it’s time to try a different hairstyle. Kelly Rowland look stunning as usual and she was definitely glowing.

It was also no surprise that the Jenner sisters killed it on the red carpet. Watch out Kardashian clan! Solange was simple but chic and her older sister Beyonce’ glam it up both on and off the stage. Jennifer Lopez look like a goddess on the red carpet, such a style icon. Gotta love Katy Perry for pushing boundaries and taking risk recreating Britney and Justin infamous jean red carpet look.

I really enjoyed most of the looks on the rec carpet. What did you think of the MTV VMA’S 2014 red carpet?

The Fabulous Three: Naomi Campbell, Iman & Rihanna for Balmain campaign

In this article of celebrities in style, I want to discuss the campaign the whole world has been swooning for. The Balmain campaign featuring supermodels Naomi Campbell and Iman and muse to Olivier Rousteing, Rihanna. These three ladies rocked this campaign, showing the world fierceness at every level.

I’m also loving the fact that woman of color are being used more in campaigns and runway shows. Fashion to me should never be about color but I love how the industry is becoming more diverse and more nationalities is being showcase to show no matter where you come from you can be beautiful and stylish. Great stuff!
